ThinkFree Office is a Web-based, server hosted office suite that allows you to create, edit and share word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation files anytime, anywhere with a 30 GB of storage space. ThinkFree Office is one of the few alternative online apps to fully support Microsoft’s latest format so that you can open files without risk of corrupting the layout or content. ThinkFree products use the same file formats across operating systems so they can be opened whether the user is on Windows, Linux or Mac machines. If you already have the desktop version of the software, the online application is ideal for being able to access the documents that you worked on from your home computer.

Microsoft Office does have some advanced features that aren’t available with ThinkFree products. For the average user, though, it will be the great office suite as it has the three mainly used programs – word processor, spreadsheet application and presentation application.

The interface is easy to grasp and navigate so there isn’t a sharp learning curve for new users. Since it works in most operating environments, you are not limited to collaborating only with users of the same operating system. Used in conjunction with the low-cost desktop version, anyone can work away from home and not worry about backups because of the large storage capacity

There is no service charge to use ThinkFree service for now. However, ThinkFree does have plans to charge for certain services in the future.

The Official Google Blog just announced the addition of presentations to Google Docs. From the blog:

Starting today, presentations — whether imported from existing files or created using the new slide editor — are listed alongside documents and spreadsheets in the Google Docs document list. They can be edited, shared, and published using the familiar Google Docs interface, with several collaborators working on a slide deck simultaneously, in real time. When it’s time to present, participants can simply click a link to follow along as the presenter takes the audience through the slideshow. Participants are connected through Google Talk and can chat about the presentation as they’re watching.

You can easily do all the basics, including making bulleted lists, sorting by columns, adding tables, images, comments, formulas, changing fonts and more. And it’s free.

Upload your existing files.
Google Docs & Spreadsheets accepts most popular file formats, including DOC, XLS, ODT, ODS, RTF, CSV, etc. So go ahead and upload your existing files; all your formatting and formulas will come through intact.

Familiar desktop feel makes editing a breeze.
Just click the toolbar buttons to bold, underline, indent, change the font or number format, change the cell background color and so on.

Choose who can access your documents and spreadsheets.
Just enter the email addresses of the people with whom you want to share a given file and send them an invitation.

Share instantly.
Anyone you’ve invited to either edit or view your document or spreadsheet can access it as soon as they sign in.

Edit with others in real time.
Multiple people can view and make changes at the same time. There’s an on-screen chat window for spreadsheets, and document revisions show you exactly who changed what, and when.

Organize your documents.
Easily find your documents by organizing them into folders. Drag and drop your documents into as many folders as you want.

Edit from anywhere.
There’s nothing to download; you access your documents and spreadsheets from any computer with an Internet connection and a standard browser. And it’s free.

Safely store your work.
Online storage and auto-save mean you needn’t fear local hard drive failures and power outages.

Easily save and export copies.
You can save your files to your own computer in DOC, XLS, CSV, ODS, ODT, PDF, RTF and HTML formats.

Publish your work as a web page.
You can publish your documents and spreadsheets online with one click, as normal-looking web pages, without having to learn anything new.

Control who can see your pages.
You can publish to the entire world, just a few people or no one — it’s up to you. (You can also un-publish at any time.)

Post your documents to your blog.
Once you’ve created a document, you can post it to your blog.

Publish within your company or group.
With Google Apps, it’s even easier to share important documents and spreadsheets within your company or group.

Compatibility with Microsoft Excel and OpenOffice allows ajaxXLS to preserve all your common cell formatting categories such as text styles, decimals, currencies, dates, and times as well as formulas, backgrounds and borders from the original documents.
The ajaxXLS web-based editor is still in the early stages of development. With it you can write, edit and save standard spreadsheet files to your local machine.
AjaxXLS has been designed to look like Microsoft Excel, making it easy for anyone to start using it without needing to learn a new program. ajaxXLS is platform independent and can be used with any operating system or device that runs a Firefox web browser. This means no matter what computer you’re on, you’ll be able to use ajaxXLS! Unlike typical office programs that are installed on your computer, ajaxXLS lives on the web and handles updates automatically. No more costly upgrades or getting stuck with older versions.
